My BA's are kind of cranky, and they will not hatch and raise chicks. They kill them. They usually want to kill the new chickens I get each year, that is why I went with Buff's. I have always had good luck with them being a good mother.
The Rainbow is a new breed from the hatchery here in Iowa. They are supposed to be a dual purpose bird with unique, colorful feather patterns. So far I am pleased with them. They seem to be a fairly calm bird and some of them do have lovely feather patterns. Time will tell.
