Duck with curled foot, need advise

Hi there. Fantastic! I splinted her foot for a couple of days, and on the third day I put her in the bath, for ducky physio! She is now walking normally, with a little bit of stiffness. I will continue the physio until there is no sign of there having been a problem. Thank-you for your advice...

Thank-you. She has a boot on now, although it makes her drag her foot when walking. There is no break, I'm sure of that. Fingers crossed xx

Duck with curled foot, need advise

Hi there. My 7 WEEK old muscovy suddenly exhibited a curled under foot yesterday, having been completely normal up until then. There is no sign of injury, and she is behaving quite normally(except for walking, and running on her knuckle). What could have caused this, and how do I help her?

    lame duckling

HELP!! My 7 week old ducklings were attacked by a rat two nights ago. One was killed, but one of the others has since had a turned under foot, and is walking on her knuckle. I could find no sign of injury, and she is as lively/alert as always. I have tried splinting it, but she gets the splint...

    Hands on hatching and help

Such a relief to see, from several posts similar to this, that an un-absorbed yolk is fairly common, and not a death sentence. Both my surviving babies had this problem, and, thanks to the posts on this site, I was able to rescue them. They are 3 days old now, and doing well!

Review by 'C Kulak' in article 'Incubation Humidity'

Very helpful, and I will take on board this advice for next time. So many sites suggest a high humidity for ducklings, but mine developed small air sacs, and drowned late in the shell....so this guide should help me lots next time. You could perhaps show a diagram for Muscovy eggs, as they...

Small air sac in muscovy eggs, day 37. Duckling still moving. HELP!

I did in the end, but the baby died in the shell soon afterwards. It looked as if he drowned. The other two came out fine, with a bit of help. I now know my humidity was too high in the 1st 3 weeks (incubator instructions to be taken with a pinch of salt, obviously!)

Tank-you...I intend to! Although I'm sure this community will be of far more help to me than I am to you all! My experience has been very much a "trial and error" affair! x

    Hands on hatching and help

Thank-you everyone for your help. My temp was fine, but I messed up on the humidity . It was way too high. I have 2 healthy ducklings though, and am glad I didn't lose the entire batch! Thanks again x

    Hands on hatching and help

URGENT Please help. Most of my Muscovy ducklings died late in the shell, at day 35. They had small air sacs. Of my last 3, one has hatched with help (it was backwards), One has started to pip, but has a small air sac, and one is still moving, but not much, and has a very small air sac. I don't...
