It would be noticable immediately, once I took eggs from my hen (whom I didn't realise she was brooding), and while I was about to add it to my chorizo, I cracked it in a bowl to find blood, immediately I took the eggs back(Man was she upset!)
He is around 2 years old, I've had him since he was a chick, he is fed mostly a diet of grains with occasional veges, I have 2 other roosters (they are seperate), and I'm from Texas, I guess I will continue using epsom salt for removing that buildup and making him that sling, thanks. Any info...
Hi, for the last 3 weeks my rooster has this problem, the middle toes on both feet at the tip appear to be inflammed, the toenails are shifting upwards, I've noticed that in the past few days. He doesn't want to walk and stays lying on the ground as seen in the pics. When in the henhouse he...
These birds not only lay eggs, but are also my pets.
The hen was not shredded or lacerated like a possum, racoon, or owl would do it, she also didn't show bite wounds. I did see what appeared to be a hole on her side below the wing. No blood, just a hole. Which makes me believe she was shot in...

Thank you all, if anyone should ever make a hen house in a neighborhood you should never make it close to a wire fence near the alley way. This was something I feared since my first hen house.
It's been soo long since I made a post, but I had to share this to see if I'm the only who's had this happen to them(This may be long). So I woke up this past Wednesday, I was gonna go jogging and thought, I'll feed my birds before I leave, so as I approach my henhouse, I find one of my birds...
Just ran out because my flock was clucking, did a possum search, but nothing. I did hear some wings flapping in the tree, so it must've been an owl. Watch out for possums and rats. I've lost chicks to rats, and my beloved rooster (the one in my profile pic) to a possum...The rats of course...
I can't seem to get it to eat on its own, do i curl my hand into a fist while exposing the feed from the open side of my hand? I might be doing it wrong.
