the nest boxes stick out of the coop so they don't take up space. I only added the other nest boxes to try and create the illusion that the coop is bigger before I get rid of any birds.
I brought him home the same day we had the coop built. Since then we got rid of the two old hens that were here and introduced 7 young hens that started laying about a month ago
Most of the hens are laying in the boxes. a couple of weeks ago I found 9 eggs in the barn most likely the roosters fault. The next day I caught the culprit in the act and moved her to the coop. She hasn't laid any eggs in the barn since but I don't think she has laid any at all since. I agree...
I got my rooster earlier this year and Id like to ask get some advice before I think about getting rid of him. He seems to be trying to get his hens to lay in other places other than the coop like the barn, the backseat of my side by side etc. I already found some eggs in the barn. How do I get...
Hi Y'all. I am in Myakka City Florida and since I am not on Facebook, I'm looking for other chickens owners for buying, selling, trading or just for advice.

Just noticed my White Ameraucana had blood on her tail feathers. When I looked at her vent hole it looked raw and inflamed. The other girls were also pecking at it. Any ideas as to the cause?
Hi I am looking at a house in Myakka specifically Magnolia Hill and I was curiuos if there is a limit on how many hens you can have. And can you have roosters? Thanks in advance
I just got rid of an americana rooster. It looks like you might have a rooster. Compare with the hen, I see fancy pointy feathers on its chest. See if the hen has the same.

Hi All
I am getting ready to start mixing my own feed. I have whole oats, whole wheat, and whole corn. I've seen people that do equal amounts of all three. I also hear from some chicken owners that too much corn is no good. Does anyone know the ratio of corn that I should be using?
Thanks in...
