We’ve been doing well here, I think I gradually got a handle on it and had less questions to ask! We’ve pulled ourselves offline, mostly, and seem to be in endless activities!
The hens are doing great, though, but I actually fought an eagle recently who tried to swoop in and take my smallest one!
I’ve read roosters don’t grow tails as fast in some breeds? Otherwise, chicks develop at all different rates, just like kids. I wouldn’t worry about it. If it’s the chick I think it is, I see a tail, just smaller.
I thought pullet for the olive egger and cockerel for the BLRW but I think he/she just needs more time. They’ve only just started to catch up in size and energy to the rest of the flock so I think they’ll feather and show super late.
The birds are 6 weeks now! I’d love to know if anyone has an updated guess on this chicken!
and this BLRW. This chick is really behind developmentally, but all my BLRW died because they all came out super weak and runt like and refused to grow. I’m not sure if I have a lot of hope for this one...
Here’s my other little Ayam Cemani x! This one is very sweet and shy. Took me a long time to catch! Mostly hangs out with the hens and has skinnier legs than the other Ayam Cemani. You can’t see it’s comb from the side, unlike the other.
@TheOddOneOut I call upon your expertise!!
Thank you! I’ll try to catch my other one to get a picture. I suspect male as well, though it’s legs are thinner and it hangs out more with the hens and seems very docile compared to the other Ayam Cemani. I reached out to the coworker and they said they got the Ayam Cemanis as a gift from...
What are you seeing that makes you think cockerel for the Ayam Cemani? I want to learn. I don’t mind it isn’t pure, I’m not looking to breed and I live somewhere very cold.
BBS Ameraucana (thinking splash?) sexed female. Thinking they got this one right?
she is very shy but let me hold her today. Second photo is from a few days ago.
I’m legally allowed roosters, but my landlord said no because he won’t let his wife have one either so it’s only fair! She and I are conspiring to keep one just so we can get a round or two of eggs before finding it a good home. :D
