3 Month Old Naked Neck Chicken, Loss of balance, inability to stand.

Unfortunately it could be Marek's. I have a Serama with it and he is doing the same, or walking backwards. I have lost 80% of my birds to the disease, even my vaccinated chickens, as it is a horrible horrible disease that keeps mutating

    Lame Serama

My little cream Serama Bobby has got Marek's. He was hatched by my own Serema's in June 2014. I didn't think he was quite right over the last two weeks, and now he is stumbling and walking backwards, with a droopy wing. He should have had a natural immunity, but obviously not. For now he is...

Are there any pheasant breeds which I can let hatch their own babies and raise them? And feed?

Yes, they were out of the way, sheltered, undisturbed and happy, as they are very tame. I just do't understand it

I have three Golden phesant hens and one Cock. Earlier this year two of the hens sat on about 9 eggs. Two were not fertile, but the rest died before hatching. Any idea what could have gone wrong, and how to stop it happening again please? It was very distressing for them

    Golden Phesants

Two of our Golden Pheasants sat 10 eggs, a couple were not fertile and the rest died at different stages before hatching. Any ideas why please?

    Lame Serama

UPDATE* Thelma died, postmortem found tumours, so Marek's strikes again :-( It now looks like my Leghorn has got it as well!

    Lame Serama

Well Thelma is still with us; no better and no worse! I can see nothing wrong with her leg and it doesn't hurt when I touch it; she can sort of move it, but not put weight on it I am still giving her a small amount of ionic silver water, baby ibuprofen and vitamins every morning, so I am...

    Lame Serama

I will see how she goes, but I will not let her suffer; in my experience they normally go completely lame or die really quickly in a matter of a day or two. My chicken Annie went lame last spring, and I thought we would lose her to Marek's, but either she recovered or had just hurt her leg I...

    Lame Serama

9 days ago my 2 year old Serama went lame. With all the deaths from Marek's we have had, I automatically presumed the worst. I started her on colloidal silver and vitamins and cod liver oil. She did not get any worse, but she was still totally lame, and has to hop around. Over the last two...

Yes unfortunately, all my chickens were vaccinated, and all bought at the same time in March 2013

lame chicken- no obvious injury- not Marek's or other neurological problem- not bumblefoot

Hi, Birds can recover from Mareks in rare cases; some permanently and some temporary. Although these birds will be carriers. Could also be coincidence and hopefully your other Roo just hurt his leg, fingers crossed

Does sound like Mareks unfortunately, and although they say Hen's are more likely to die than roosters, I have not found that to be the case. How is your other Roo doing? I lost Bluebell this morning, and she was 18 months old and big and bonny- I really hate this disease. I now have 2...
