I heard a month, and local stores sell egg wash. Eggs are porous so be careful with what you use. I dont think you have to wash them tho.

    Feeding baby chicks grit

I gave my chicks grapes, cut up small. And sprinkles grit for birds, (parakets) on it. They loved them. Plus if I ever needed them to go back in the coop once they got bigger, it was so easy when I tossed in a few grapes. My peeps were just fine.

I put a peice of latice down the center of my 4x4 coop, so they could see each other and not get to each other. I put my new chicks in at night. It was fine, took the latice out 2 days later. But my 2 "flocks" stick with each other, but no major issuse, they all cuddle and roost together. My...

    HELP!!!!- Malnourished Chicks

Great, thanks. I hope they will be ok, and I think a bath is due too. People like this really make me upset. I sent her an email saying theres a reason why chickens live on farms and not in apartments.

    Chicks Piling together?

At 9 weeks, they should have all thier adult feathers. Mine are 8 weeks and are outside in their coop, a few nights ago it was 35 degrees and today it will be 85, crazy Maryland weather. They should be fine in a wide range of temps. As long as it dry and not drafty. Mine roost now, some do and...

To make a long story short, I have 3 chicks I got from a local feed store. Barred Rock, Buff Orpington and RIR. They are about 8 weeks old and doing fine. Right on track size wise. Free range or fenced in?

I free range on 3 acres. I accept the fact that I will have losses, even with a small flock. They are only out when someone is home to supervise. I dont have a rooster yet but I am thinking of getting one.
