Hi SFH lovers! I think I lucked out with a Swedish Flower in my Rare Breed Assortment from Meyer Hatchery. What do you guys think? She’s 6 weeks old today and so beautiful. And I’m really hopeful she’s a she!
Thanks everybody! I should not have 3 EEs, according to Meyer’s policy on the assorted breed orders, so hopefully one of the three is a real breed instead of a hybrid.
Thanks guys! I think you are right about Rosy, @chrissynemetz I’m changing my guess on Iris though, I think she’s a Swedish Flower Hen! I’ll look into Russian Orloffs to be sure.
@Roo5 do you think both unknown red girls are the same? There seems to be so many different red breeds that look...
hello! Hoping you can help me ID breeds and genders for my 6 week old chicks from Meyer Hatchery. 5 are part of the rainbow assortment, 5 are part of the rare breed assortment and 1 Meal Maker. In theory I should not have more than two of any breed. Let me know if you need more pictures! I have...
That plus windows on either side?
Oh, good point about the chicken tunnel, hadn’t considered that. I like the idea of using their run as one side of the garden fence though, maybe in the future we can extend it around a second side.
It is a free chick, either a layer or a broiler depending on what you ordered. Meyer intends for you to donate the eggs or meat of that chick to a pantry! I think it’s a neat idea and definitely plan to do it.
Just wanted to share my babies with you. I’ve learned so much from this forum so thank you! I got them from Meyer Hatchery, today they are 3 days old. I got 5 of the Rainbow Assortment and 5 if the Rare Breed Assortment, plus a Meal Maker. Sorry the pics aren’t great quality. The MHP has been...
Here is the back of the shed. I’m thinking I will start the run from the back of the building and continue it toward where I am standing as I take this picture, making it one side of the garden fence.
Got some pics of the inside. It did not have plywood up as I had remembered but we’ve got enough here to put some up. This will give us a good chance to map out from the inside.
Can the vents come a few inches under where the eaves stop? The way the studs are would block us from putting the...
Thanks! I went ahead and put my location in my profile. I’ll have to think on the run problem. There is a garden growing directly behind and I’d rather not ruin that. I had considered having the run share a side with the fence we are currently building around the garden so I may revisit that idea.
Hi! First off, thanks for everything I’ve already learned from you guys just by lurking around here. I did that thing I’m not supposed to do, I bought baby chicks before my coop and run were done. They are only 3 days old, so we should have enough time if we get on it soon! I have this sweet...
