I let a guinea sit on 9 eggs at the end of September because a) I was so sick of eggs; b) they had stopped laying; and c) I was certain her hormones would shift and she'd be bored and back with the flock by the end of a week.
I was wrong.
She hatched two keets and squashed them in the nest...
I interpret the "woo woo woo" whistle as "This is good; I'm really happy"
The short little "chuck, chuck" sounds are like, "I'm content; check this out." They seem to me like a way to communicate attention back and forth to one another.
I am not an expert, but do spend way too much time...
Just following up on the outcome of this.
I ended up putting this little one back in with the other keets since it was so stressed out. I started (and finished) a round of Corid in their water. Since there was white foamy stuff on the vent that reminded me of some pics I was seeing of vent...

On days 5-7 a few of them had pasty butt but that seemed to clear up after I stopped...
UGH, Tractor Supply didn't have anything labeled antibiotics for poultry. I got Corid, because that sounded familiar to me as something given to birds, and I verified there was dosage info on this site.
NOW I realize Corid's an anti-protozoan, not an antibiotic. Is there something specific I...

I move the keets into a lined cardboard box while I'm cleaning their brooder. (This is also my chance to make sure I've checked/cleaned each one's butt, etc.) I've noticed the one that's left alone when the others have been moved always...
