6 week old- is it too early to tell gender???

Oh! Thanks for responding! I’ve been overly suspicious - but also assume that’s my luck with getting three boys. I’m hoping at least one is a lady. They still don’t have names yet because I don’t want another rooster

Any guesses anyone? Or is it too early?

Do I have too many roosters?

I have a calm and gentle rooster with 8 hens right now, and I still feel the girls are getting overmated. They’re feathers are looking pretty sad lately. Just my personal experience though

6 week old- is it too early to tell gender???

Hi all, I hatched out a couple eggs since two of my hens went broody. I ended up getting three chicks, one of which I know is a roo, the other two I’m unsure. The first is a Barnvelder x Easter Egger cross. The second is a Barnvelder x ISA Brown cross. Any thoughts? Oh also, they’re about 6...

    Egg bound or something else?

Haha, hey thanks for asking. I ended up putting her in the tub and almost immediately she passed the egg. Shes had this issue a few more times since, but every time I just put her in water and she passes what’s usually a soft shelled egg pretty quickly. After a couple hours she’s back to normal...

    Egg bound or something else?

Hello All, This past Thursday I thought my hen was egg bound because she presented all the suspicious symptoms. I immediately took her inside and ran a bath. Before I could get her in the water, an egg popped out of her, bounced off my leg and ran to the floor. I was surprised but happy it...

    Rattling breathing/wheezing

Hello! I know there’s a lot about respiratory issues online, but I didn’t really understand how you get them better? should I be taking one to a vet to get a prescription for antibiotics? I have a couple hens that are wheezing, ones worse than others and also sneezes a bit. No obvious...

    Integrating new chickens

Hello All, I have two mini flocks right now and I’m trying to integrate them. The older flock is three hens and a rooster all about 8 months old or so and a group of 6 pullets about 5 months old. They’ve been living side by side for a couple months now as the younger ones grew larger. Now...

    Split ends on juvenile feathers?

Hey guys, I’ve looked through different forums and was trying to find someone with a similar problem without any luck. I have six 3 ish month old chicks and the two that are lavender Orpington have what looks like split ends on their feathers? The other chicks that are different breeds don’t...

    Shell-less eggs

Also as added information a lot of the hard shelled eggs I do get are double yolk. And they’ve been getting treated with Corid for a completely separate thing but I didn’t think that affected egg production.

    Shell-less eggs

I did have that originally, and they were going through a 5lb bag of oyster shells in like not even a week. And I was still getting those eggs so then I swapped to shells and pellets on Friday last week with no change in egg situation.

    Shell-less eggs

I have two for sure layers and one who might be laying. And In the last week I’ve gotten pry 7 hard eggs and 7 soft shelled/shell less eggs.

    Shell-less eggs

So I’ve been getting a lot of shell-less or soft shell eggs lately from my hens. They just started to lay starting maybe about a month ago. I know new layers have more issues because their bodies are getting the hang of things, but how long does it usually take for them to normalize? They are...

    Chicks and Brooder/Coop Transition

So as an update I did the week plus of see without touch. But when I started the integration it was very rough. I put the pen up on cinder blocks to allow the chicks in and out without the hens getting in, and that was a big failure. When I came home from work yesterday, there were a pile of...
