    My Rooster died after Tylan

Hello, I had a rooster who died this morning. He was a couple years old and has had breathing/respiratory issues for a while. I gave him and the flock tylosin powder in their water for 5 days as the instructions said. This morning he died. My question is, could the Tylan 50 powder have killed...

    Tylan 50 powder suggestions?

Hello all, I have a full grown rooster who I suspect has a respiratory infection. I have tylan 50 powder but am not sure how to administer Since he is in a cage with his females (who are not sick) they will all be drinking from the same water Any suggestions would be much appreciated as far...

Okay I was afraid of that as he won't let me do that. I'll have to brainstorm. Do you have any experience with tetra bac 324?

Hi again, Could you please provide a link to the tylan 50 powder? I see the vial liquid on tractor supply but would prefer the powder if possible. How do you even give administer the liquid? Pour on food? Also do you think this would be better than tetra-bac 324? Thank you so much

    Sick Rooster :(

Yes I don't really want to either but seeing as he is only getting worse I have no option sadly. Thanks for your help! Really appreciate it

Okay great thanks. I will study those options tomorrow and then pick one. Just to check is there any harm in using these "drugs" so to speak if the rooster does not have an illness?

    Sick Rooster :(

Thanks, I live in Alabama. I give them Dumor feed pellets, scratch and fresh fruits and vegetables (varied mix) I just throw it all on the ground for them to eat. I think I will do a fecal float at the vet. My biggest concern though at the moment is his labored breathing. Thanks!!!

    Sick Rooster :(

Thank you! I will look into those options. Is there any harm in treating him with one of those options if he does not have any of those illnesses? Side effects? A vet I spoke to over the phone suggested tetracycline as a water additive. Do you have any experience with this? Could a fecal...

That's a great help. I will switch to that instead. I did think it could further irritate him so I used DE food grade sparingly

    Sick Rooster :(

Thank you, I will try to trim his vent at night. He is much more calm then. The chickens did have little red mites but I gave them each their own DE bath rub down and changed the bedding. Hopefully it's just stuck on poo he has. As for the respiratory issue. I just went down to the coop and...

    Sick Rooster :(

Thank you, the nasal passage is completely normal. I am pretty convinced it's a respiratory infection. I guess what I would like to know is if there is a standard treatment that would help cure this or does each respiratory infection need a specific treatment? I would be sort of blindly guessing...

    Sick Rooster :(

I will listen to him tonight and rub some vet rx on his nostrils. He is a loved pet but will not be handled or touched. He hates it. So I can't bring him to a vet . The vet I spoke too is mainly a dog and cat vet but looks at birds too, didn't really seem familiar with infections or diseases...

    Sick Rooster :(

I guess the puffy area under the eyes could be from whatever he has, but I can't remember if that was the same before he started sneezing or not.....if swollen areas under the eyes are a result of some sort of a cold then that would make sense but I wouldn't think a cold would go on for 2 months...

Thank you for your reply, I did not notice the swelling, I just thought that was how he always looked. Here is the other eye which looks the same as well as a different angle on the left eye. Thanks!
