    Not your average prolapse

Thanks for your input. I agree it was probably a tumor/mass of some sort. Though it didn't seem to bother her, t couldn't put her back in with the flock because they'd peck her - so I put her down this morning. She was a good lass, good layer and fearless (ask the fox who tried to carry her...

    Not your average prolapse

She's a 1 yr old bantam cross. Has anyone seen this? It is hanging from her vent. I've put it back in but it eventually slips out. She's isolated. Spunky. Laying. I just can't figure out what this is? A teste? A growth? Thanks for your help.

    molting mood swings?

Hi - The molting has started and I've noticed that myfavorite hen who is usually friendly and comfortable has become a bit skittish and flighty. I am assuming it is because she has dropped her feathers and feels vulnerable? Anyone else notice this kind of change?

    Impacted crop?

It is down to about ping pong ball size. I can feel the grains of rice in there. (grrr!!!) I'll follow up with a bit more oil soaked bread, isolated and lots of water.

    Impacted crop?

OK, I just gave her a bit of torn up bread soaked in olive oil. I also took a quick feel around the coop (only 4 girls) and felt one other with a small bulge. Thanks for your help!

    Impacted crop?

So, I should let her go until morning and then see how she is? It won't kill her overnight, right?

    Impacted crop?

Hi, I just went out to close the coop door and I noticed that my NN looked "husky". Just where her naked neck ends and her feathers start on her chest, is a stretched sack about the size of a small orange! It is a bit squishy. I do not think it was there yesterday. The neighbor girl came by...

has anyone used homeopathy on their chickens?? PTSD?

I haven't bought the remedy yet (big snow storm/ snow day, etc) but I did a web site remedy finder and it looks like she'll need sulphur. I just need to figure out the right dose. (We've been using homeopathy and Chinese medicine to keep the human family healthy for years, now) But really...

Big fat fight when I introduced the new hen to the two-chicken flock

This must explain why my #3 girl is going all nuts on the #4 who is recovering from injuries and trying to get back in the flock. #1 is too cool to get involved. #2 is vocal and muscles #4 around. #3 out and out attacks #4. Just trying to keep the order, I guess?

has anyone used homeopathy on their chickens?? PTSD?

I'm wondering about treating PTSD (post hawk attack) with homeopathy. Anyone ever done this? She is now afraid of the other hens, afraid to be out of her coop. ( Molting too - with the usual pale comb and not laying.) She was not like this before the attack (Dec.2). Thanks!

should I separate the hen until she fully recovers??

Hi My SLW got attacked by a hawk about 3 weeks ago. The gash is healed from that, BUT it coincided with or brought on her first molt. She was in her own small coop for the first 10 days while she recooperated. But she clearly wanted to be in the big run and the big coop with the other 3 girls...

Hen with puncture wound - air escaping?

I apologize for my bumbling suggestion... The crazy glue really only worked on the torn skin - in a situation that would call for stitches. I agree to keep it clean and let it heal. And good luck to you and your hen. I hope she is ok.

Hen with puncture wound - air escaping?

Hi, I had a hawk attack 2 weeks ago. I flushed the wounds with saline, then I sprayed tons of bactine in all the wounds, then once I got the wounds as clean as I could, I used crazy glue to close the gash. You dab just a bit on one edge of the gash and then hold it for about 15 seconds. She...
