Does this chick look ok? Please help!

Oh my goodness, she is big! And beautiful! And broody...more chicks coming your way soon? Do you have your own rooster? I have no idea what my little black chick is. He is growing like crazy though! It's amazing to watch. :) How is your little one tonight? Any improvement?

They are adorable! I hope the little one continues to grow and thrive. That's great that you were able to get more, and at no cost. Hopefully, the next ones will do really well! Thanks for sharing the pictures...there is just something so sweet about little yellow chicks! Thanks again for...

    What is this? Yolk Sac?

Thank you both. It's been an interesting experience at the very least. Our one little chick who made it is doing well and getting bigger each day. He's super social and very cute. He gets lots of love and attention from our kids. :) The best to you both!

Please help--something is wrong and I don't know what to do...

Thanks for your thoughts...He didn't appear to be in any pain, so I'm glad we stuck it out. It turned out to be some unabsorbed yolk sac and it dried up and fell off. He moved to the brooder yesterday and is with his little friend now and is doing fabulously well. :)

Please help--something is wrong and I don't know what to do...

Just wanted to update you...it wasn't his intestines. Just part of the yolk sac that wasn't fully absorbed. He is alive and doing really well and should be just fine. :)

Please help--something is wrong and I don't know what to do...

The black one is alive and doing really well. Yolk sac issue all cleared up! I owe Cynthia a debt of gratitude for her help and knowledge. Sadly the second one didn't make it, but we did everything we could for him. We got a week or so old chick today to keep the black one company and they...

Does this chick look ok? Please help!

So the black one is doing great! The other poor one ended up dying yesterday. His intestines were out and the yolk sac didn't get absorbed. Not sure why...this one hatched later and took longer. Since only the black one made it, he seemed lonely, (chirped really loudly for hours last night)...

    What is this? Yolk Sac?

Sorry, I missed this, (as I ended up with a kid with a horrific ear infection yesterday in the middle of this poor little chick's problems)...but thank you. His intestines came out for sure, and didn't make it. He didn't seem to be in pain, and died relatively quickly, thank goodness, as...

Does this chick look ok? Please help!

Thanks again-both of you! I'd flipped him a few times today and ended up putting him in a cup, as the other one was crawling all over him. Then he kept hopping out of the cup and has been trying to move around ever since. I gave him a little bit of sugar water. He has a weird yellow and red...

    What is this? Yolk Sac?

This is the 2nd chick that hatched. He finally pushed the rest of his shell off of himself today, but apparently, prematurely. I cleaned him up and kept him in a cup with a wet paper towel all day. I've had to change it out a few times, as there was yellow/green stuff all over. So a little...

Does this chick look ok? Please help!

Thanks mattsinger! I'm still worried about keeping them alive, now that they are here, but I'm so glad two made it! Ours are local, from a friend's farm. They have been super generous in sharing with us!

Does this chick look ok? Please help!

I hope yours are doing well this morning as well! This egg hatching is tricky business I'm learning! I hatched the other 10 eggs last night, as they weren't doing anything and the incubator had been opened so many times to help these two...there were 9 fully formed chicks of the 10! Sad that...

Please help--something is wrong and I don't know what to do...

It appears that its the chick's yolk sac, as it's drying up (Thanks Cynthia!). He's alive and doing well this morning...can't seem to leave the other one who is half hatched alone. He just stands near it, cheeping away! Thanks for all of your help. I'll post pics later on today hopefully!

Does this chick look ok? Please help!

Oh no, I wouldn't yank it off-no worries. I was concerned that the chick would by accident in its maneuvering. Ok, so I will not give it any sugar water tonight and will just leave it for the night. Should the washcloth I put it on be wet or dry? It seems like it won't fluff out ever if it's...

Please help--something is wrong and I don't know what to do...

A few on there believe it's the yolk sac...and that it will be ok. I don't want it to suffer, but I also don't want to end its life prematurely. I sent my friend a message, who owns the chicks and I guess I see what she wants to do in the morning. Thanks for all of your help. Still saying a...
