My 5 18 month old EE hens started molting in September and stopped laying. They seemed to be done molting in early November and I started getting one egg a day (total). I got one egg a day for about 2 weeks and for the past 2 weeks I've gotten nothing. They are all fully feathered and looking...
ALL my hens do this ALL the time. I am really surprised to see this thread. I just assumed everyone else's did it all the time too. Its hilarious. They do it when I catch them off guard. Like the are frozen with fear. The wings go up (shrugged as it is called here) and they look side to side...
The day I picked her up she laid 2 eggs. Once right when I saw her in her pen at her old home and again later that day after I had brought her home. She was with a rooster who I did not take. I have had her for 3 months now and she has not laid an egg (that I can find). She is a very stressed...
Is there a way to tell? It's been agressive towards my full grown EE's who are 3 times it's size. Like trying to jump on them. I'm hoping to not have a rooster but is this a sure way to tell?
I have a 3 week old silkie chick and I just noticed a walnut (half) sized lump on the right side of her chest! It's oval shaped and not hard. What could this be? She not acting sick at all, in fact she's a very active and friendly bird. I'm so worried!!!
I have a 3 week old Silkie and after raising 7 other chickens from babyhood I'm surprised at what I am seeing with this one.
He eats human food. I had him on the counter and when he discovered my leftover tunafish sandwhich scraps he went nuts! So far he hasn't turned his nose up to anything...
I have 3 four week old silkie chicks and every day I check them for crusty butt and each time it seems at least one of them has it. I raised 5 ees last year and none of them got it. Is there something going on?
Yeah... I saw that thanks. I just feel bad about forcing the toes to straighten. I guess it's better for her to feel some pain now than to live with that foot like that for her whole life.
Thanks. Just to clarify, not all the toes are curled under so I don't think its riboflavin def... it's just 2 toes that are completely bent so they are under her foot. Should I try to pull them out?
Just great. Is there no hope for me to have a silkie? If this happens how hard is it to just let them live in the house? I am willing to do what it takes to have these beautiful babies in my life!!
