I have no idea. He said right now they get barred rocks, buff orps, WEs and I can't remember the other. He said he gets the rarer breeds in the spring. Where is your feed store?

Howdy! I live in Huntington Beach. I have had GREAT experiences both at Midway City Feed and at the feed place on Newport Blvd in Costa Mesa. If you live in the area, they are both great. I know Midway City sells chicks, I bought mine there. They get day olds in on Wednesdays at noon with 95%...

BROODER thread! Post pics of your brooders!

There are some great brooders on here!! It really helps a lot for someone who is doing research before purchasing our 1st baby chicks! Has anyone used a hamster/rabbit style water bottle? I read that they can learn it super easy and it keeps the water clean all day long? I have zero experience...

    Barred Rocks!!

Thanks for the tip! Sounds like a nice flock! I am more curious about 1 on 1 since I'll only have 2. I am not opposed to keeping 2 BRs, but variety would be nice.

    Barred Rocks!!

I am getting my yard "ready" for 2 chickens. I am sure that I will get a barred rock hen. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with other breeds that do well with a BR? I am looking for a good egg layer and great pet who is able to deal with 90 degree weather in the summer and very mild...

I have read and am aware not to mix a larger breed with a smaller breed if my flock is only 2 ladies. But I was wondering if I could keep 2 breeds "successfully" together if they are similar in size. Have you had any luck with this? Thanks for the info. I really like the Barred Rocks and am...
