I agree it is overwhelming and confusing. With the symptoms they are experiencing according to what I read on the internet and BYC, it could be a number of things (injury, Mareks, Botulsim, etc).

I am treating her with Baytril. I guess I'll try to give her a warm soak to soften the scabs, but I'm a little afraid to do that because there are so many and they are huge and I don't know what to do once they are off and what I will find underneath. it might start bleeding or something and...

Thank you for the information. I have been searching the internet for the past few days and found this information also. i think this is what she has. The scabs are so hard and thick I don't think I can get it off without hurting her. Should I soften these huge scabs and try to take them off...

I did separate her from the others also.

She is about 3 years old. It doesn't seem to bother her that much. She is a little slower than the others. She is eating and drinking. I think it started growing within the last several weeks, but I just noticed it about a week and a half ago. I don't know what to do with her. And it stinks.

My hen (about 3 yrs old) has these black dry and very hard growth like things protruding from her skin that are foul smelling. No oozing that I can tell. She has two on her neck, two on her back, one or two near crop/breast area. She looks deformed. Does anyone know what this is? Any advice...
