Hi,
Fiiiinnally!!! Our first egg. One of the RIR layed one this morning (you could hear her blocks away). She layed under the blackberries in a very inaccessible spot, and she is staying on it. What do I do? Take it when she gets up and replace with golf ball?
They have a nice coop...
I am. I have 10 girls 22-23 weeks, 6 different breeds-and NOTHING!!! I love my girls, but I want them to be more than ornamental. I've had egg song, squatting, beet red comb/wattle, etc. and still no eggs. Lights, golf balls in the nests, nice roomy coop, etc. It has to be soon, right?

My 10 girls are only 7-9 weeks old, but they are pretty different. I've got 6 different breeds and the Rhode Island Reds catch on to everything fastest, with the Buff Orpingtons a close second.
OK I need advice on fencing. I have a flock of 10. They have a super secure coop, and an attached run that is 12x12. It has welded wire and poultry wire all around and ontop, including buried out 2 feet from run. I feel very good about it being predator proof.
BUT.....we let them out to...
