Just a quick question. I have one silkie rooster (Juniper) who's very big and docile and is 7 months old. He doesn't fight and he's only a high rank among the pullets. He's ugly but not like my other roosters I've had who are aggressive so I want to keep him.
He's the only rooster in the flock...
Loud in my flock = Rhode Island Reds, Black Sexlinks (one hen makes a crazy loud "yell") and Khaki Campbell ducks
Half loud half quiet = Production reds/red stars/red sexlinks
Quiet = silkies, white legorn
She passed the same day I posted this thread, but thank you for letting me know! It might've been tumors because she did have a growth that I removed in her oviduct at one point.
The flock is doing awesome right now so hopefully they don't have e. Coli. Once a hen acts slow again I will treat...
She is five years old, has laid eggs and I felt inside her vent and there was nothing.it has been about 90 degrees here but it drops at night and I do keep them with water that is refilled regularly. The other hens (including five year olds) are doing ok. Today I kept her in with air...
Gave her three sips of milk if it is e. Coli and water with crumble particles
Can drink but I have to force her to put her head in the dish, then she sips normally
RESOLVED!!!!
So in the past week my hen was a little slow and yesterday she was really slow but she could fly still. This morning I took her in and she could stand so I gave her a strawberry smoothie (fed it to chickens before no problem) and 4 hours later she is now sitting
Passing yellow...
Update! I am giving them all doxycycline, and they're all in good condition. There might be problems down the road, but for now they are healthy. I will post again if anything goes wrong.
Thank you for the help! As I said in my previous post, the chick didn't make it, but that's ok.
