RESOLVED!!!!

So in the past week my hen was a little slow and yesterday she was really slow but she could fly still. This morning I took her in and she could stand so I gave her a strawberry smoothie (fed it to chickens before no problem) and 4 hours later she is now sitting

Passing yellow liquidy stool every 2 hours

Same temperature around body including vent

No sound when breathing but does flinch (bottom eyelid goes up a bit every breath)

Just gave her doxytetracycline

PLEASE HELP!!!! THANKS

Gave her three sips of milk if it is e. Coli and water with crumble particles

Can drink but I have to force her to put her head in the dish, then she sips normally

How old is she, is she laying eggs, and has it been hot where you live? If she is old enough to lay eggs, feel inside her vent 1-2 inches for a stuck egg. Check her crop to see if it is empty, full, puffy or hard. Are the poops bright yellow, pale yellow, or yellowish brown? Give her water with electrolytes and vitamins, such as SaveAChick, with a spoon to her beak or a dropper, a few drops at a time..

She is five years old, has laid eggs and I felt inside her vent and there was nothing.it has been about 90 degrees here but it drops at night and I do keep them with water that is refilled regularly. The other hens (including five year olds) are doing ok. Today I kept her in with air conditioning.

Crop feels empty, but I have kept her head up so she doesnt vomit up the liquids I gave her. The poop is a transparent brightish yellow with a few specks in it. Kinda like lemonade. I'll try finding vitamins to give her but we don't have energy drinks or sav a chick in the house :/

She just lays there sleeping looking like she's dead, but she does respond to touch.

Feel her for lumps under her skin. I just had the same thing and my sweet girl was full of grape-sized tumors. The vet found them. I put her down. I hope you have better luck.

Bright yellow poops can be a sign of E.coli infection, which is a common infection associated with egg yolk peritonitis. Ligh yellow poops can sometimes be egg material from internal laying. Many use enrofloxacin or strong antibiotics to treat E.coli, but there is no guarantee that it will help long term. Here is some information and a link for enrofloxacin:

She passed the same day I posted this thread, but thank you for letting me know! It might've been tumors because she did have a growth that I removed in her oviduct at one point.

The flock is doing awesome right now so hopefully they don't have e. Coli. Once a hen acts slow again I will treat the entire flock.

Sorry for the bump on a dead thread!
