We just built a better bigger coop and got new chickens, went from 3 to 8 chickens. How long do we need to keep them in the coop before letting them free range? We have an un-enclosed yard out in the country. They've been in the coop 5 days.

One of our pullets (2months) makes this strange cricket chirping noise when we approach their coop at night. It is very funny and sweet sounding, kinda low. Anyone ever heard a noise like that before?
