Thank you for your post! I found some mites in my coop this morning (these that jumped on me were grey) and I also have a sand floor. I sprinkled Saturday night lime and DE on the floor and in the nesting boxes. I also ordered the electorPSP and it should come in this week. When inspecting one...
I’ve had the same issue with one of my now year old Olive egger and 6 month old hen (not sure of breed, I’m new to this!). The OE laid from 5 months old up until a month ago I stopped getting eggs in the nesting box. The 6 month old hen I believe laid a few times but nothing for about 2 weeks...
Good morning,
I have a 1 year old Olive egger who all the sudden stopped laying in her nesting box. I adopted 2 other hens who are now about 6 months old. All of my chickens free range during the day.
The only egg I’m getting is from one of the 6 month old hens and she is laying in a water...
Hello! I was checking for egg quality and doing the “float test” when I noticed a few eggs bubbling. Do you guys think these are still edible? I went ahead and hard boiled them in the instant pot. If I find more should I toss them?
Thank you! I feel guilty that I couldn’t figure out what was wrong sooner to save her. I do think she was sick when I got her though. She was in an overcrowded environment which is breeding grounds for many things to go wrong.

Thank you for responding. I initially had to treat with corid when I got them and they seemed to be just fine so I integrated them into the coop with the others. It was maybe 3 weeks later that I found her the way I did in the coop.
She passed away this morning. I’m very sad I couldn’t save her!
One of my little silkies was found in the coop last week almost unresponsive and wouldn’t keep her head up. I brought her inside the porch with a fan on her, gave her honey, water, and thinking it was maybe heat related. I was able to run to the store and get her powdered electrolytes with...
Hi everyone!
I live on the south east course of Florida where it is EXTREMELY hot and muggy out this time of the year. I got chickens about a year ago and recently got 2 silkies (which I believe were sick when I got them. Which is what brought me here- more on that in a minute lol). Besides the...
