Hey everyone I need help now!! So as I posted the other day my Seabright had a 100% hatch but I just noticed there are mites in and around the brooder her and the chicks are in!!!! can I use Seven 5 or what??!! The chicks are just a couple days old
100% Hatch!! My Seabright hatched all 6 eggs she was sitting on! I also slipped in 2 EE chicks that I purchased this morning. Just a note- initially she was only sitting on 3 eggs so I put 2 more under her that had been in the fridge for 2 or 3 days, these hatched as well!! So she now has 8 chicks.
I personally do not think it will be an issue since you plan to free range during the day. I have a chicken tractor that is only 3x8 the roost box (where they sleep) is approximately 3x3. I close them in overnight but they free range from morning till they go to bed. I only had them closed in...
Thank you for the replies, mama bird does currently have food and water available to her. Once the chicks hatch I will remove the blue bin she is siting in so the chicks will be able to move around. I think we decided to close the gate to the crate once the eggs start to peep (this way no...
Once the chicks are old enough to be outside in coop/run they do not need food where they sleep,(if that's what your asking). They will be fine with the food and water just in the run. Although depending on the temperatures some will put water in the roost box just in case.
Hi everyone! I currently have a broody Seabright, she is on 6 eggs right now. They are due to hatch on May 9th or 10th. She chose a nest box that is inside a large dog crate. Every evening I have been closing the crate door and not opening it again till the next afternoon when my other 4 girls...
It's been a week since one of my hens went broody, she is on 6 eggs, two of those were in the fridge for two days before she started setting. I candled them today and all 6 seem to be coming along nicely.
Okay I have the same question as judyki2004, seems as though one of my girls have gone broody, would I be able to take a couple eggs that have only been in the fridge two days, let them warm to room temp then slip them under her??
Yikes! Its awful that you and your dh have to live next to someone so nasty. We have neighbors on one side of us that are equally dumb but not half as mean. I suspect they feed our chickens scraps as well since every weekend when they bbq and have friends over our birds line up against the fence...
