18 week old red sex link, started laying about a week ago. Her first egg was VERY soft. Have gotten a couple since then that I suspect were from her. Fast forward to today..let them out of the run when I got home and she was acting like she did the first evening she laid. Very quiet, still..not...
I have ten *almost* 18 week old production reds, 6 of which have large fleshy red combs and waddles and are squatting like crazy. The other four are getting there but are lagging behind a bit.
I have gone back to work now from a COVID lay off but my husband is still home so he checks...
I have Golden Comets and ISA Browns that look like the same breed as yours with similar size combs and waddles. They are 17 1/2 weeks old and I have a couple that are just starting to lay. I wouldn't think it would be long now actually.
And I did start offering oyster shell about a week ago, but tbh they didnt seem all that interested in it. I'm thinking that maybe once everyone is laying (all are squatting) that I may switch to a layer feed supplemented with oyster shell.
