Nice boxes mine are temporary so they are milk crates for now. We are building some permanent ones this week. Still very excited about it all. Boys keep saying will she lay 2 tomorrow lol.
Lol have a box used the golf ball too, but she decided the floor of the coop looked like a better location!!! Hopefully the other girls will start soon too. Cannot wait!!!!
My 4 month nameless white leghorn hen gave me my first egg this morning!!!! Was small but perfectly formed with a hard shell. So proud of my chicky babies!
You must be very careful using horse manure. "green" (fresh) manure can easily burn young roots. My reccomendation would be to use at least year old and spread over the ground at the end pf season and plow under in the spring. That is if you don't do a cover crop! The manure tea will help...
The two chutney recipes sound nice as well! We always end up throwing out a lot of zukes and squash because of the surplus of veggies. I am so grateful for the idea and recipes.
