I have seen "chicken riots" over strawberries and boiled chopped egg, grapes, and bread.
Does anyone feed them wild bird seed?
I have never tried scratch yet and figured seed would be same.
I put an old baby monitor out in my coop..
oh my the sounds they make...
my favourites are the purring, the trilling ( one at a time then all together) I sure do know the " what the heck is that??!!!" alarm call...
and especially the soft chatter I hear as they get ready for bed...
I really...
Thanks for the advice...
I have given them oyster shell...so not sure if thats better / same as egg shells. They seems to be acting the same as usual, other then one hen has a ruffled look to her and has looked like that since spring. So I did think molt or mites.
I'll add electrolites to...
Hi there....Ive been surfing for info about why my 2 hens ( 1 year old and already molted in spring),
are laying eggs with no shells. I saw one shell today....all folded and crumpled near an egg splatter. I don't think they are eating shells...as I have seen a perfect yolk siting in nest...
Can you post a pic without the feather...I would love to see what this cat-doglooks like
And those dared chicken poo eaters sure can be gross...mine tries to lick bottom of my shoes...he's gross..haha
My chickens beg, cry, plead, whine,
and sometimes BI#@H at me!!
My sweet Roo just clucks.....
They run FULL TILT towards me when I have strawberries in my hand
( one actually jumped 4' straight up)
They can be a handfull.....BUT so worth it.
ell I am pretty sure yesterday was day 21...
no action with eggs and Hen seems normal, not excited or anything.
Eggs are very small silki sized. And I had a hard time candeling and was wondering how long do I keep them under hen before giving up?
Thanks for the input...
I figured as a first timer I would do it the " easiest way"....Let mama do all the work...I just have to clean water and poopy butts!!!!!
I have a very broody Silki sitting on a few eggs.
I was just looking for any extra info on what to expect.
I'll put marbles in waterer so chicks don't fall in, but will this be hard for her to drink from??
Should I put in a heat lamp...will she keep them warm until they start walking around...
I have a siki that goes broody every 3 months....sometimes lays for a month then broody.
Hard to tell as she is 1 year old...didn't lay all winter as way to cold. Started in spring maybe April...then broody in May..Lay in June..then broody again in July...so I put 2 of the cochins eggs in with...
OMG those pics are adorable.....
I just recounted my calendar and have 2 eggs due this Monday.
Those eggs are so small, did you have a hard time candeling?// I tried mine but couldn't see anything at 7-10 days....
I hope mine are fertile.....
So exciting to see your progression of pics.
keep...
Hey there.....I am aawaiting 2 siki cross eggs to hatch....and I am researching any potential problems before they get here.....Tuesday i think.
I would also like to know more about the yolk and intestines staying attached...or how that all works.
I do know it provides ? days of food for...
I can relate.....
I have 2 eggs under a silki that my DH doesn't even know about!!!!!!!!
they should hatch on our b-day if fertile.
They are cochin eggs and so small I can't see into them. My litte silki hen is soooooo broody
I saw her stealing from the cochin hen ( that has never gone...
I want goats so badly...now I have another good point to "talk" my DH into giving in!!!!!
Only thing is..... you need 2 goats....and have to castrate the male or it'll get pretty stinky around him. Goats are happiest in 2's r 3's or 4's...hehe
Sadest and lonliest goat is the single goat. I...
