This is basically what I do. Just give them access to shelter and let them decide (and maybe try and dry them off if it's cold and they manage to get too wet while I'm away).

Hi all, I have a hen who has something strange sticking from her vent - it seems like a dry and wrinkled rubbery mass at the end, but with a tube-like fleshy part which extends back into the vent. I could pull it so far, but then it wouldn't come out any further, as if it was connected inside...

Hmm, I removed a bit of blood last night, and by tonight, her ear has bled more, as there is dried blood on her feathers. Will removing the blood cause it to get worse, and bleed more?

One of my bantams has a swollen ear. I think that she hurt it a while ago, and it still has dried blood on the outside, and the ear lobe has swollen underneath. Maybe the swelling is the ear cavity filled with blood? Or the blood is blocking the ear cavity? I don't know whether I should remove...

I have a bantam with a hurt ear. It is crusted with blood, and has been like this for about a week now. I can only assume that she has scratched it on something or one of the others pecked her ear. I don't really know what to do to help her... Any help would be greatly appreciated!
