    Chroma Critters... Critters!

Feeling posty. Here is my TopKnot roo! None of my TopKnot chickens seem to have tails... My lovely Sultan! I had a white one too but he got nabbed by a raccoon.

Just sharing some of my triumphs, failures, joys and sorrows while starting up my first batch of quail! Equal parts jubilance and some disturbing descriptions of chick injuries and non-hatches. So, my friend and I ordered some quail hatching eggs about 2 months back off of Etsy. They were Jubmo...

Official BYC Poll: Why Do You Have Chickens?

My 'other' is that I just didn't feel right not having chickens. Grew up with them, didn't have any for my service time and while I lived in the city, but as soon as I had even a quarter acre I bought chicks again to start over. I love my birds!

    Rooster wing torn off (PIC)

Dio is back to his crabby, strutting self. All good here, but thanks for the advice and especially the link! I finally know where there is a decent local vet who will at least take a look at my chickens so there will be less trouble if I have future issues. Haven't had any more chicken attacks...

    Rooster wing torn off (PIC)

He does not seem to have any trouble with ballance while walking, but he did the struggle initially with jumping up from rung to rung on their perches. No problems now though.

    Rooster wing torn off (PIC)

It has been a Long long time since I did an update, but Dio is still doing fantastic. He pulled through with no relapse and is currently the Boss Roo in my tiny bird flock! He still flirts with the ladies, just drags the remaining wing to show off. The ladies are suitably impressed based on the...
