    i too use DE. i even put it in chickens and dogs food....1/4 tsp. for small breed dogs. also mix with sand for japanese quail to dust and play in. on hot days, just dampen with water and watch the fun. chickens have a special corner in coop with dirt , sand and de. they have a blast,

    tractor supply does carry "turkey starter." this is , i think, around 25% protein. we raised 12 coturnix quail chicks on this. boy, did they grow. they are 1 and 2 yrs old. and healthy. have four hens that are mauled by all these males; but still produce between 7 and 9 fertile eggs per day...

    after watching my "little girl" last eve. she raises straight up on her legs and there is a bulge down below vent. could this be an egg thats bound in there? whats best way to get egg out gently?

    called a vet. he said to use ivermectin in water.....then follow with sulfa drugs or tetricycline for all chickens. will let you know how she goes.

    wouldnt recommend combining chickens and quail. i have 12 of the cutest and healthiest coturnix quail. i held one for chickens to see......went nuts!!! quail have a built in immunity to lots of diseases; but chickens dont. wouldnt advise at all.

    really have been reading alot about chicken diseases. i just lost a rhode island red pullet with what i think was mites. have another chicken loaded with them. have been getting lots of info from feed stores on what to do. love these chickens, ages 2-3yrs old. need some help, please
