    Missing Polish

Yes! We got her! I had to go get my boyfriend to grab her because she was just out of reach. She's in the coop with her sisters now! :)

    Missing Polish

Tonight when I went to close the girls up in their coop I noticed one of our polish was missing. I was getting worried that a hawk got her or that she got out so I started checking all the bushes in the backyard trying to find her before the dogs did. Couldn't find her anywhere and I was walking...

    Polish Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure it's probably been asked but I have a question for you guys. I'm introducing a group of four chickens to our four older easter egger hens. The newer group is two Rhode Island reds and two polish. Any tips to keep the easter Eggers from pecking at the Polish crests? The RIRs don't...

    Strange new breed

I wonder what you would feed them in captivity. A couple mice a day maybe?

    Introducing Hens

At first one of the easter Eggers was lightly pecking at the crest of one of the Polish but I think she was just curious because she stopped and hasn't done it. The hens used to like hiding under the coop in the shade but now that we put the pallet out there all the older hens are under that...

    Introducing Hens

We added a pallet leaning against the side of one wall. The two groups are mostly ignoring each other.

    Introducing Hens

Our run is about twenty to twenty five feet long and six to seven feet wide. The coop is elevated so the hens like to hide under there but I have a couple pallets we can add. I'll also make sure to add more feeders and waterers. Today we will just introduce them and see how it goes but we'll...

    Introducing Hens

We have four Easter Egger hens living in a coop and run in the backyard. They are about fifteen weeks old. We also have four chickens living inside that are eight weeks old. The ones living inside are two polish and two Rhode Island reds. We were wondering when it would be safe to introduce the...

    Feeding Pellets?

Thank you everyone for your responses. Is there anywhere food to get it online? My feed store doesn't carry pellets unfortunately. The issue with online is shipping though :(

    Feeding Pellets?

I've seen a lot of people that feed their hens pellets instead of the mash. The pellets seem to be more expensive and better for the hens. Because they're better for them and have more nutrients (from what I can tell) do you feed them less of it? We feed our dog the more expensive natural food...

    New Waterer

It's in the run with them. They have been around since they were chick's but they don't like us to pick them up. We're working on taming them so we try not to chase them. We sprinkled food up by the lip of the bucket but I don't think we've had any luck yet. I might have to chase one down and...

    New Waterer

We got a new waterer for the chickens this weekend and they haven't figured out how to drink from it yet. It's one of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007K80KQ4/ref=redir_mdp_mobile Any tips to help them figure it out?

    Shelters can be so frustrating!

We happened to get lucky when my boyfriend and I got our dog. Because he'd been hit by a car and lost his back leg no one really wanted to adopt him because he's "special needs". Because of that he was only 20 dollars. He was a good investment :)
