What is killing my ducklings? HELP!

No, it's an organic garden. I'm wondering if there is some poisnous plant I didn't know about that somehow kills ducklings but not chickens?

What is killing my ducklings? HELP!

Ok, just went out to check on them again, and one is really floppy, adn then having jerking around. Edit: It's dead now. I brought them all back inside the house (it's been quite warm here, and they've been outside for a week, with heat) And all three have died this afternoon, in the warmer...

What is killing my ducklings? HELP!

They are 20 days old now, and moved them into a pen in my garden 2 days ago. 2 of them died today, at different times. Everyone acts fine, until I find one dead. There aren't any wounds, or signs of why they died. There food didn't change when I moved them, except now they are getting some of...

Bird with twisted head, pushes herself over sideways

I have this Cornish cross that I never go around to butchering, purchased in March, probably a good 5-7 lbs (not good at guessing weights...), and I've gotten fond of her. She has her head twisted all the way around, and pushes herself over sideways until she hits an obstical. She was fine...

Anyone keep Dexter cattle for milking?

Quote: We kept a small herd of dexters when I was growing up, and I can tell you that it's not naturally homogenized- the cream rises just fine, and very thick. Goat's milk is though, and it doesn't affect making cheese at all, unless you for some reason want to make skim milk cheese (yuk )...

    Best goat breed for pets?

Quote: I've heard of that being true for Pygmies, but I've never heard of that for Nigerians. I think the problem is with pygmies, because they are bred to have different body proportions, where as the Nigerians are bred to have the same proportions as full sized dairy goats. Both of my...

I just recently learned about them, so I'm very interested in what people have to say, but I don't have any of my own, yet.

Any particular breeds that continue to lay well as they get older?

I figured that I would have to breed for it, but I was hoping to find some one's line or some breed that had already been selected for that so I wouldn't be starting from scratch. I'd love to be able to use a heritage breed, but it's been very hard to find references to ongoing laying ability.

Any particular breeds that continue to lay well as they get older?

So, does no one have experience with a breed of chicken that continues to lay profitable into the 3rd, or even 4th years of life? I'm aware they keep laying even as they lay, but I'm interested in starting to sell eggs, and if at all possible I'd like to select breeds that continue to lay enough...

Any particular breeds that continue to lay well as they get older?

So, everything I read says that hens start laying dramatically fewer eggs once they pass two years old. I'd like to find a breed that continues to lay reasonably well, even when they are older. Any suggestions? I also would like the breed to be one that forages well, and perhaps one of the...

    Dutch Bantams Breed Thread

Quote: NO! Hatcheries do not have good Dutch at all. You must buy from a breeder. See this list to find a breeder of purebred Dutch: http://www.dutchbantamsocietyamerica.com/breeders/Breeders.html I just got started looking in to Dutch, and so far I'm quite enamored of the breed. I've been...
