I think she is one day old, and she probably did get pecked because she looked fine at tractor supply. I didn't even think about the reflection though. She wouldn't eat yogurt like the older one did when she got pecked, but i hope it gets better in a couple days. Thanks
My chicken coop is kind of a hassle to clean, because the run we built has a top on it. We figured it might be good to get a walk in coop so the chickens have more room to go about their day and they won't make one small area totally disgusting. I'm also thinking about some of that Koop-Clean...
Well, that's a happy load of crud. The website for that thing had a trillion reviews that were apparently fake. "It will scare the wits out of guys like this gleeful raccoon LOOKING AT IT FROM A CENTIMETER AWAY."
I saw an advertisement in my chicken magazine about the Nite Guard. It's main purpose is to simulate the red eye of a real nasty predator like a coyote, sending clueless, moronic animals back to their dens Fact is, I can't tell whether or not it works without trying it myself. Does this thing...
I am looking for some advice on either how to keep fisher cats out of your coop or how to get rid of a fisher cat. Our once flock of 7 is now down to 3 due to a fisher cat who has been eating them in the night for the past 3 nights. The odd part is, when we found one of the chickens dead three...
Thanks, I'll try to get a photo for you soon. None of my other chickens were really bothering it that much because she tried to stay hidden away from the others. She was in the chicken coop most of the day. She wasn't really running at mach 5 to get to a salad I put out for them like she usually...
One of my family's adult buff orps must have gotten into a scuffle with some kind of creature in the night because it has a large red injury on its neck. There are no feathers around the area and it is pretty raw, red, and nasty. She acts normally but we are worried because of how gross the...
We live in Massachusetts and the run is not covered. The run often gets wet and is currently mud and poop. I believe the best choice would be deep bedding with grass clippings, leaves, etc.. Is that correct? Thank you for answering my question!
Our hen had a similar infection of her eye and we fed her some plain Greek yogurt and she was better within 2 days. We gave her about a spoonful once a day for the two days until she was better. They love the taste and the other chickens will probably try to eat some too. Don't feed them to much...
Try adding a little bit of apple cider vinegar to the chick's water. It helps their immune system. Also, keep the droopy chick away from the other chickens in case it is contagious. Good luck!
Hi! Our family is keeps seven chickens in there coop almost full time. Because of this, all the grass is scratched up and the ground is really gross right now. We are considering laying down hay or some other type of bedding and wanted to know the best material for this purpose. Do you have any...
Two of our hens have had this problem and we just took a spoon and put Greek yogurt on it and they were curious enough to peck it and went crazy after that. Only problem is that the other chickens wanted some to! Within 3 days the eye was completely back to normal. I hope this helps!
