hi there, I just found your post, as I was looking for THIS topic on the site. haha- yes weird systems, I never quite understad Farenheit... I believe lava floats around underneath here quite a bit and we are awaiting several vulcano eruptions but that can happen tomorrow or after 1000 years... :) Average temps here re actually not all that bad, around - 1°C in January I...- claudiaosk

totally agree :) Berta has been my favourite from the start, she is fairly quiet and does her own thing, and although she is ends up at the bottom in the water games, she seems to be the one who dares go on ice and often leads the others into new areas of the garden, totally interesting all, I...- claudiaosk

its the weird Icelandic Celsius. -10° in Iceland is 14°F, so probably not toooo bad. The thing was, that Berta got really wet in the water which I had filled the tub with (after taking the ice out) and then, in the -10 °C she got icecrystals on all her feathers and bigger icycles for 2 days...- claudiaosk

Ducks keep screaming!
My ducks do that when they are hungry, but also when I dare give them "only" the dry stuff, they want green beans and if they dont get them they go quak-quak-quaaaaak! so the whole neighbourhood knows what going on. Its because they are spoilt rotten and I have to do something about it. ... :-)...- claudiaosk

thanks so much, that makes me feel better! Perhaps its even better if they dont play too much in the water (it freezes up after a short period of time anyway). Berta usually ends up underneath during their surfboard games and she is frozen stiff outside :-( They sit outside huddled together...- claudiaosk

got another question :) Its -10°C here this morning. I filled their little tub with cold water as the ice was too thick to break. When they got out of it, their feathers are frozen and I noticed that they crouch down a lot (which they dont do in warmer weather). So, my question "when is cold...- claudiaosk
