Cyst in hens eye or something else?

Oh dear. My hens did have something similar. I have forgotten the name of the infection which is like a hard yellow lump which can gently rolled out. Might not be the same but looks a bit similar. I wonder what other hen lovers here think. My solution would be to try and see if it moves at...

    Tumor in eye?

Could it be a worm of some description? Sounds grim but possible.

I may have finally "broke" my crazy cock

Gosh, what a palaver! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. You are so wise in your approach to retain dominance, especially with your children close by. I agree roosters DO submit as long as they know you mean business. I share your actions of picking them up, and making a noise which...

    Aggressive Rooster Help Please

Hi.. For what it is worth… what I would do with him may appear different but it works for me in so many ways…not only aggressive roosters. but hen bullies. Pick him up from his roost as this may be the only way of catching him. Talk to him and be gentle stroking his comb etc. this will show...

Help! My wife is mad at me for feeding the chickens pizza!

Hi, I think tiny wee pieces fed individually to each bird is my way of treating them. To prevent one getting more than others, I put the treat in my hand and just leave a little showing between my fingers facing the bird. My birds all know that they will all get a bit and there’s no fighting...

Comment by 'Cluck-a-lot' in article 'How Much Room Do Chickens Need?'

Hi I am sorry for being vague. I am in the Pacific islands. The Moringa tree grows in temperate zones. Australia, Africa , Asia . People actually grow them indoors as the leaves are simply stuffed with Vitamins . I planted four in one area especially for the hens. I collect a good handful which...

Comment by 'Cluck-a-lot' in article 'How Much Room Do Chickens Need?'

I loved this article. Thank you so much for outlining practical ways to keep birds happy and healthy. I have two coops. They are both very different as one lot of chickens likes to perch and the other larger heavier birds love to sit squashed together. They have other space, but this is how...

    Found baby chick is sick

Good luck with her. I would probably leave her for a bit until she shows signs of coming out of whatever state she is in. I am not sure feeding her anything other than water will help. I am no expert so perhaps others will offer you more learned advice. I do hope she gets better.

    Found baby chick is sick

Ps .. she may have internal damage so be prepared for the worse. I am sorry as she looks really sweet. You are doing your best and you cannot do more than that.

    Found baby chick is sick

I would wrap her in something warm so she is cocooned as it makes them believe they are under their mother. Get an eye dropper if she wakes a little happier, and feed her whatever other members would suggest. I would probably soften up chick feed and give her tiny amounts .Plus rain water is...

    What killed my chicken?

I am so sorry to read your post. How dreadful. I think the first thing I would do is look for any holes or entries into their coop and get them fixed up quickly. Whatever did this will come back again and you certainly don’t need this. If any of my hens or roosters die I plant a tree over their...

    Please help my chicken!

Hi.. I am sorry I haven’t been on site for a while. I would love to know how your chicken is doing. The fact that you are loving her is so heartwarming. I wonder how the antibiotics are working for your patient? The fact that she is eating and drinking is wonderful.
