I live in NZ and have 9 darling red-shaver hens. Their names are : 1.Clucky 2.Penny 3.Pickles 4.Feather...
my very special 1 eyed hen clucky died she became sick and we thought she was egg bound and then i picked her up one afternoon to check on her and she started twiching and then died .....in my hands!!!!!!!!!! im very depressed
I have 9 red hens and from time to time say...every 2 or so months about 2 of the 9 lay that tiny egg. my local vet said to me they are "dud" eggs. its perfectly normal. Dont worry. if it persists take her to the vet to get checked...
silkies dont do that. you should take it to the vets and see why is doing that it may have a cold on a cramped up neck. its throat maybe blocked or some thing. my red shavers do it only on a hot sunny day when they pant...
to tell you the truth i think (personally) it will be safer to keep them out of the coop till it heats up and you can feel its hotter and the thermomtr reads it! also that scratch thing NEVER HEARD OF IT all i know of it in nz is grit that comes from ground up egg shell into little flakey bits...
me again, i have 3 new chickens and i put them with my 6 other darlings but theve had their pecking order but still are getting attacked and as a result they refuse not to go into the nighting roosting area so they sleep outsde and with the frosts in the mornings the will get a flu ETC this gets...
