In looking at the 2nd pic, I don't believe it to be a red-tail, because the tail feathers aren't those of a red-tail. I think it could be a Cooper's and the colors seem to fit much better than a red-tail also.
The first one has similar patterns and colors to that of a redtail....but, the angle of the pic hinders the identification because the wings and tail are the main differences between the Buteo....broad-winged hawks and the Accipiters....which are long-tailed hawks. There are several Accipiters...
Got some action shots of Gabbie this morning on a walk-a-bout....
....my wife can still run, so that is her running with Gabbie....and Gabbie was having fun jumping into the raked leaves and I was lucky to get one of her in the air....:)
So we made it back from picking up Gabbie about 2:30pm....just in time for tending to all the other animals, spend a little time letting Gabbie getting aquainted with the backyard and then final round lockups. Here Gabbie is after we got her and she settled down a bit... ....this is one taken a...
We have several 3gal buckets that we use for water, with the goats and ducks.....this is what we use inside with them at nite.... ...it is about 5 1/2" deep and holds around 2-2.5gals. So, the problem wouldn't be if they would use it, but if the other animals would drink after them....chickens...
BREAKING NEWS!!!»»»»»»» It is snowing in Birmingham so the Gabbie watch has been extended by 1 day. We will be meeting up to get her tomorrow, so stay tuned.....I did receive this for your viewing pleasure.....
My wife, Joyce, has difficulty breathing lying in a bed, so she sleeps in a recliner and we like different temps too....so I sleep in the bedroom where I can crack open a window if needed. When Gabbie gets house broke I won't say she won't sleep on the bed some, but she will always have her room...
It is actually a walk-in closet, but all I wear is T-shirts and blue jeans, so nothing is in there except some storage shelves....so, now it will be Gabbie's room. It is in the master bedroom and will be a good location for her....:)
My Dad was stationed at the Navy base close by there. I dealt with enough snow there in those 2yrs to last a Lifetime. The townhouse we were moving to wasn't ready when we got there and we stayed in a fishing cabin with a wood stove and an outhouse right on they bay....the dang marker bouy...
Gabbie's room is ready for her to come home to tomorrow.... ...the front barrier is the top lid to the duck brooder. She'll have the whole room once she is house broken.....:)
I'd sure be checking every nook and cranny and every stitch of packing....that is a crying shame!! It'd probably be difficult to find a good replacement too, being so old.
My rule has always been....he who pays the Bill dictates the thermostat....for some reason it has always been me.....:)
I must say @superchemicalgirl that after 2yrs in Winter Harbor, there is absolutely no way that I'd retire up there....I'd certainly rather be in Mississippi......:D
