Thank you for the info! I just got these birds recently and Ive never worked with spread before but from what I've read I thought spread ash red turned birds turn out an off white color because spread takes the tail bar color and covers the bird with that? I am a bit confused about how it works..
What colors of offspring are possible from a recessive red hen to spread blue cock pairing? I have my first round of babies from these two lovelies due today(: They are serbian highfliers, thanks for looking!
Update: Thank you so much for the info veryone, I've adjusted the heat in the brooder (had him a little too hot) this morning I checked on him and he had emptied his crop yay! Just now gave him his first meal, full crop of pigeon seed soaked overnight and warmed up, ate like a champ. Looking...
all domesticated pigeons are decended from the rock dove, so technecally you right. There are over 200 breeds of pigeon in the US.what i meant though is what breed or mix of breeds these may be, or if they are a new project im curious who is breeding them. Just thought id post here to see if...
The bigger one would get fed more and out compete the littler one. Ive seen it happen with pigeons that are only two days apart from the same parents, that one got a head start and got most of the food even though the parents were very experienced and great care takers. I helped out by doing...
I second what jak said. Best to section you coop so that they are separate. It can be done, but is especially risky with large breed chickens. Better safe than sorry in my opinion.
I came accross this picture on a pigeon breeder facebook group, some one posted it asking what they are. Ive never seen anything like it, so unique and punk, i love it! Id love to know what breed these are, or if they arnt a recognized breed if anyone knows any info about the project or who is...
I'm having a pigeon emergency. First off, she has a vet appointment in the morning on Friday as soon as I get payed. I hope she makes it that long.
I'm looking for advice or ideas of what I can do for her until then. The vet wouldn't give me any suggestions, just said to bring her in ASAP...
I'll show of these beauties: my first two offspring from this summer, my Serbian highflier project. now fully molted with their grown up feathers. Proud mama here
I've done some research on this, and here's how it is: two parents with crests= all babies have crests. One parent with crest and one without= no babies with crests. One parent with crest, one parent who's PARENTS were crested= some crested babies, some non crested.
Here's an awesome article...
Hi there! Ok, here's the situation: I'm working on a breeding project with very limited stock and I'm wondering about who I can breed to who. I have one bird from very nice stock, the bird that inspired this project, that I got from my grandfather before he passed. I have him paired to a female...
sounds like your she is probably a he, I've had males try that sort of thing but not hens.. also males are more inclined to do the courtship behaviors you describe.. i would suggest getting a partner for your dove, they are generally happier that way, and she/he should stop making advances on you.
Lozuufy thank you :)
Ducky, for off topic things it's best to make your own separate thread. Not meaning to get down on you it just tends to make things confusing and you will get more answers to your question if you post separately
1st picture is Sebastian, my hand raised oops baby. He was a mutt, part highflier part roller part feral, I loved how dramatic his split color eyes were<3
2nd picture my pure Serbian high fliers
