She's got some Blu Kote on her feathers back there, maybe that's what you're seeing? ... she's definitely not bottom of the pecking order, but a couple other girls got in a bad habit of picking on her.
She's bigger than the other girls, but may be a week older than them. Thanks for the reply...
Hi, guys, hoping to get an opinion. I've got a 3 month easter egger who just seems a little different from her sisters. She stands a little more upright... Could "she" be a boy?
This may sound crazy since everyone seems to recommend pellets over mash because it supposedly wastes less, but I just switched my birds to mash and they love it - haven't wasted a bit of it yet. I noticed they were spilling the pellets all over the ground in order to get to the dust left over...
One of the feed stores around here tried to sell me scratch instead of the layer pellets I asked for. He said that's what all chicken farmers primarily feed their birds.
Luckily there are other feed stores in my area that know what they are selling.
Took some funny pictures this afternoon of my small flock and just wanted to show off.
That's our two black sex-links, Alexandra and Margarita in the front, and in the back, Henrietta our Buff Orpington and Coco Rico our EE roo. I kind of really love these birds. Group shots are hard to get...
Ok, started treatment with corid this morning, and after the week is through I will plan on giving them a vitamin supplement and making yogurt a more regular part of their diet. The coop and waterer have been cleaned. Would yogurt be in any way beneficial while they are on the corid or should I...
Are they acting normal? When mine had coccida they were quiet, sleeping and feathers were ruffled. It could have been a fluke in one dropping but I'd keep a sharp eye out on their behavior.
Yes, they are all acting normal - eating, running around, and all that other good stuff chickens do...

Well, sure enough, he tried crowing this morning. I'm pretty bummed we're going to have to find a new home for him. He's very sweet - jumps up on my lap every night when I get home from work. Guess we'll have to find a couple more pullets to keep my Buff Orp girl company.
Thanks for all the...
