I just divided up breeding groups and had one really feisty female. I put her in group with bigger birds that can defend themselves against the little witch.
Stancock displays for my chickens. He herds the pullets bc they are so confused by him but the hens ignore him completely. That silly peacock perches on the coop run waiting for me to let the hens out in the am and if I am sleeping in he will get on the grill next to my bedroom window and holler...
TomCat and Stancock get along and tend to lounge around together. They even join forces if they feel I should be outside. I looked out the bedroom window to find them both on top of the grill peeking in and making noise. Weirdos.
I don't feed Stancock cat food, but he has taken over the barn cats bowl. The poor kitties wait for me to come out every day to stand guard over them so they can eat. Stan just runs them off. Silly bird.
Ok. Just a Stancock update because I am going to wet myself with excitement. (think small yappy dog shaking). My little boy is growing up! I was sitting in the living room and heard something. After straining to listen for it to happen again, I knew what it is was. I gasp and run out the door...
Well, I am pretty sure all of the Barred Rocks are going to be a bust. We had a power outage after the storm and I had to take the eggs to a neighbor for three days. When the power kicked back on and the eggs came home, there was a problem. I asked if they had smelled anything stinky. Both guys...
I had my husband plant the clover heavy in the pasture around the house so that the garden and my flowers have a chance this year. My ladies get everything from kale, lettuce, tomatoes to watermelon and herbs. They may be spoiled but that is the norm on my farm.
My rooster will only attack if you have your back turned. He has been a wild rooster for awhile now (He won't go in the coop and we don't feed or water him). He has survived for 6 months this way and has evaded capture, or he'd be in some noodles. We just keep an eye on him and something will...
Did a quick candle job while filling the water reservoirs...My barred rocks ain't lookings so good. All of my other shipped eggs look on course ready for lockdown. Buggers. Oh well. Just means I get to try again right?
