There is absolutely NO,,NO REASON whatsoever to desire such peafowl as Thang on anyones property. But if fighting for inferior genetics is worthwhile-have at it. Thangs harem hasn't laid anything yet this spring. Possibly the hens don't think Thang has the eye appeal to allow mating??

My first hatch was in a still air HovaBator. I bought local eggs, and even accidentally cracked one a tiny bit. I had 100% hatch. Don't remember the particulars, but everything was as exactly by the book as I could make it. The eggs were hand turned, 1/2 turn every 4 hrs, alternating with a 1/4 turn. I numbered the eggs in pencil on all four sides, and each egg had its individual number. I had 8 eggs and I paid $5.00 each for them. I just kept the water compartment filled with water. Had no hygrometer, only the little thermometer that came with the incubator. I never took the lid off, only made one of the little windows removable. I just reached into the incubator and turned the eggs. I kept detailed records of time and side the eggs were rotated to. They all peeped in the shell very loudly before hatching. I had just come into the house after making a rushed trip to the feed store, and thought to myself, "the birds are really upset about this storm" thinking they were outside birds. I was amazed at how loudly they could cheep!

One thing I would strongly caution someone hatching peafowl is don't over feed the chicks, and don't leave them on game bird starter any longer than you are supposed to. It can cause terrible leg problems.

Good Luck!

I have a wire pen for dogs called a Puppy Play Pen. I used it for my first Ps I hatched. We got the small holed wire hardware cloth, and put it on the adjustable pen floor. But later added it to the sides. Put plastic under and around it. Adjusted a brooder light, and it was perfect. It was so much fun having them in the house with me. Sadly there comes a time that P chicks have to go outside. They were good therapy for me. I had been badly hurt in an accident at work.( and to make it worse it was another persons fault that I got hurt), it was 5 surgeries & what seemed like never ending physical therapy, and the P eggs were my self prescribed PT. In another post I described how I hand turned them,( I did it that way to exercise my hands and fingers)

If he were a dog, he'd be neutered, right?
