Just made up this breeder pen for 4-5 quail. The pen was designed around an aluminum cookie sheet and measures ~12x16. A small door hides the waste pan which is easily removed for cleaning. Total cost was less than $15 including the hardware. The pen was purposely designed for construction...
This is kinda like the question..."how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll?" Most of the birds I raise make it ~8 weeks before heading to freezer camp. The breeders that are kept stay around less than a year before egg production falls off at which point they are...
Did a search but didn't see this posted anywhere. This page of links is from the North Carolina Co-op and has many links:

Definately a good page to bookmark. Enjoy
Looking to buy a dozen or so (depending upon price) bantam orpington hatching eggs. Color not important. Please drop me a PM. Located in western NY if that helps with calculation of shipping.
Thanks, Tony
OK, so it's not really a coop in the true sense...don't know if it qualifies but here's a quail pen I just finished:

Still cleaning up the plans...I'll post when I as I have time...
Wow, talent abounds on this forum! Great coops and ideas. I did some drawings the other night. The most important design considerations seem to be ease of cleaning & feeding. Keeping the droppings inside is also a biggie as the coturnix I've kept have the tendency to backup to the edge of...
Anyone have an indoor aviary for quail or small birds? I over winter a few coturnix in the basement each year as it is too cold in these parts to keep them outside. I've kept them in brooder cages in the past but thought I might build something a little more aesthetic for the upstairs. Nothing...
Who needs TV when there are week old quail running around the brooder like the Keystone Cops. Sigh, but they grow up so fast...their primaries are already coming in. Before you know it, they'll be at that homely, teenage stage with half their feathers...
Galvanized weld wire can be buried:

Not certain what type of housing / pen you are considering. A small 'tractor' might be a good option with only two birds, especially if you can put the tractor in a garage...
I bought a still air, styrofoam LG incubator years back and added an old fan from a PC. As mudfarm said, you'll probably need a 12Vdc adapter (aka wall wart). Check the fan, it should have the power requirement written on the label.
From what I'm hearing, most of the incubators with air...
Is there an odor coming from the 'leaky' ones? Even if the shell is cracked, it may be too early for there to be enough bacteria to get that nice, ripe, rotten egg smell. Make sure you take these out if they begin to smell bad as the bacteria may infect the entire set if the bad egg ruptures.
FYI...

Im assuming you meant to say Flukers not Fluke as someone interpreted the name. Fluke manufacturers some of the best test equipment in the world and you pay top dollar for the item. Flukers, from what Ive found, is a retail variety device which sells a combo thermo/hygro for ~$12-$20. Is...
Hasn't been a good year when it comes to hatching eggs. Lost an entire set a few months ago to low incubator temps after multiple power outages. The last set was doing great. Almost 60% of the set had hatched by last night and the little fuzzy ones were running around like the Keystone Cops...
