Actually I took the 18 eggs from under savannah after I realized they weren't gonna hatch n now she's sitting in a new batch!! Hopefully these ones are fertile!! My rooster, rocky is getting old!! My girls are getting too fast for him now! Lol luckily I have another rooster who will be sexually...
She does look a lot like the Wheaton old English game bantam hen. Only difference is below her neck line her color gets a little darker than the hen posted in the pic of the site u wanted me to check out and after looking closer at savannahs pic u can see she does have white ears!!!
She's one of the smartest of the bunch! I block the fence to the backyard on one side so they can't jump the fence n she's the only one that's figured out to go around to the other side! Lol for some reason ( maybe the neighbors dog on that side??) none of my birds like hanging on the opposite...
Awesome!!! She's a gentle bird until she went broody!! Then she not only pecks me to death when I get near her but tries to twist n rip the skin off my arm!! Lol
Try putting a huge bunch together n see what happens. I think most of ur chicken breeds aren't the type to go broody anyways. From what I've read Rhode Island reds, buff Orpington's (and one more breed but i forgot) are the type to go broody. However, my friend has silkies that sits on all her...
Her eggs were more of a creamy white not a bright white but they were whiter than my pekin eggs which are creamy color her eggs are also a little smaller than the stores and pointy at the tip
Have u tried not collecting eggs with all of ur hens? What kind of chickens do u have? It's so crazy bc I was complaining to my hubby about none of my girls going broody but after leaving 18 eggs in the coop it snapped her into it! Maybe try leaving a lot of eggs?!? Lol
I also added another pic I found of her while she was up n running around. I was so busy I relied on my teenager to collect all the eggs in the coop for a couple days and of course he did NOT do this so savannah went broody!
This is savannah!! She's broody right now! She was given to me by a lady I met down the street. Kim told me she was a Rhode Island Red. Savannah lays white eggs and is a very sleek, medium small size bird. The more I look at Pics of Rhode Island reds, savannah doesn't look like the breed. She has...
Hey Brenda I'm not a professional but have been raising chix for 4 years now. I managed to make my own homemade styrofoam incubator and successfully hatched 4 out of 6 eggs the two that didnt hatch weren't fertile. My rooster, rocky is getting too old n slow for the girls!! I'm new here also...
Im new to BYC and have no clue on how to work anything on this site!! I have 4 hens, 2 roosters, 2 unknown sex chickens, a moscovy female, a crested pekin male( my female squeaker died :( ) and I have a blue baby Indian runner male. I also have 2 turtles, 2 Persian cats, a boxer female pup and...
