My one week old silkie chick is not doing well today. I went to the brooder to check them this morning and she was on her side with her feet going wild. She was chirping loudly. I picked her up and her head flopped to one side. She is in the brooder with 6- 2 week old chicks and 2 other 1 week...

Thinking this might be a roo?

Funny I was thinking the same thing about both of them. They're constantly going at it. Made me wonder if they were both roos too.

Thinking this might be a roo?

Its supposed to lay lt blue eggs. At least that's what the person I got it from said. He has mostly reds and brahmas so I assume that's where the red is coming from, he was black with black legs as a day old chick.

    Roo ?

Our 1 yr old Cornish Rock Roo is so aggressive with the hens, often pecking them in the head repeatedly then holding on to the top of their heads with his beak while he does his thing. One in particular has been left bleeding from the comb several times. I have noticed that their feathers are...

Is it really this complicated? Feeling a bit overwhelmed!

Here's my experience, probably not the best way to start but it all came together. I didn't know what I was doing but read a lot on here and on the chicken chick blog. The chicken loving folks are very helpful! We found our first chicks through craigslist, a local farmer had put them up for...
