Need some help with the guessing game....I have 8 week old chickies. One a brahma (L) Carmel the other an, and I hope I'm spelling this right and using it correctly, Americauna (R) Brownie. Guess we were hungry that day! The americauna has been feisty from day one, tail feathers are longer, thicker legs and its bigger than the brahma, which is supposed to be a big bird to begin with. Never had this kind of bird Soooo...I'm thinking this one could be a roo...your thoughts?

Brahma, Americauna

You did spell it wrong,, but a common mistake no big deal. Ameraucana. But that isn't an ameraucana. I don't even think I would call it an easter egger. That one has me stumped on breed. As to gender, i'm not quite sure.

That seems like a lot of red for on those combs for 8 weeks. Any other opinions?

Tail and comb make me think cockerel. Color doesn't seem too rooster-like though. I'd still say cockerel.

I'd keep an eye on that Brahma too--wings are dark and the comb is quite red.

Its supposed to lay lt blue eggs. At least that's what the person I got it from said. He has mostly reds and brahmas so I assume that's where the red is coming from, he was black with black legs as a day old chick.

Funny I was thinking the same thing about both of them. They're constantly going at it. Made me wonder if they were both roos too.

Not saying that the peron you got it from is a liar or anything. But that isn't an ameraucana. If you want you can get on the amerucana breeders website at www.ameraucana.org and look at pictures of the different varities and you will see that your chicken dosent look like any of them.Easter Eggers can lay blue eggs, but I dont think it looks like an EE either. You can go to the EEs braggers thread too and post brownie there and see what they think.

Thanks for the input. I did see he had others there that were laying blue eggs. I know its not an EE. I will post on the forum you suggested. thanks for the input.
