I just started ordering Countryside Organic's Organic Soy-free Layer feed. The shipping sucks, but my wife really wants them fed organic to see if that changes the reaction she gets to eggs. I'll be sure to post what our results are. Expecting our first egg any day now!
I would help out if you lived in the area, but it was super easy anyone could do it. If you or anyone wants more pointers on how I build it feel free to message me.
That run looks great! I am actually re-evaluating my current plans and may do almost exactly this. It seems much cheaper and easier. I even like the rustic look of the pallets and I have a large supply of them. My only concern is winters get quite cold and windy up here in the barren North ...
Hey guys,
I just thought I'd post some pics of the temporary pen I had to build for my chicks. I planned on having the coop fully built this fall, but due to some unforeseen circumstances I have to wait until closer to spring. We hatched them about 2 months ago and they have been staying in...
Anyone have any brands that have organic feed? I live in the Minneapolis area and I'd have to drive quite a long ways to get to a feed store. I'd be willing to order online I just can't find any brand names. We have 8 birds and lately they are just tearing through their food. We'd like to feed...
Ya I'm starting to lose hope for the other eggs. I ordered some new eggs from a different person so she shouldn't be alone for too long. But we take her out and interact with her as much as possible to keep her from getting too lonely.
So far no, but they are only a day late. Still hoping. I ordered some more eggs from a different person today so she'll have company soon enough. Till then we'll play with her every chance we get.
Just an update, she's(we're praying it's a she) doing awesome! Very strong and chirps like crazy. She loves being around us and chirps really loudly when we don't hold her. Here's a couple pics.
It's the only one so far, we got 6 Jersey giant eggs and 6 bantam ameraucanas on the same day from someone I found online, and this one hatched 3 days early. Initially it didn't seem like it was going to make it. Now it's very strong and loves to be around us if not held by us. I candled the...
We just recently(2 days ago) had our first ever chick hatch(Jersey Giant). We're praying it's a hen, but can't tell. She was almost 3 days early. Here are some pics, any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have some Ameraucanas Bantams on the incubator right now, today should be hatch day. I have a $150 LED Streamlight that's the brightest I have ever seen and when I candled my eggs I could only see anything in 1 of them. The rest were too hard to see anything. I'm crossing my fingers and will...
Well I've learned for next time. I have another question. She is now out and moving around and peeping a lot. She is two maybe three days ahead of the rest of my eggs and she's moving around so much and banging the other eggs around and I'm getting concerned she's gonna crack or shift them too...
Well I put them in after noon on the first day, so now thinking about it I think it was day 18 I took them off. As far as helping them, I think that was due mostly to being new and impatient. We will not help until much later for the next ones.
