Black Copper Marans from Meyers Hatchery

I have two BCM hens that I bought from a guy not too far from me. He got them from meyers. They are actually kind of nice. They are all black with the copper on the neck and head. They have feathered legs and feathers only on the outside toe as they should have. They also have a bit of a...

    Is he a splash?

Thanks for all the info. I'm not planning on breeding him as he is the only BLRW I have. He's still pretty nice to look at and so far he is a nice docile roo hopefully he stays that way.

    Is he a splash?

Thanks, it was those bluish/black tail feathers that were throwing me off. All I know about him is the mother came from sand hill.

    Is he a splash?

I'm thinking my BLRW roo is a splash. He has some dark and light feathers in his tail. What do you guys think? He is about 5 months old.

    Medicated feed and eggs

I let my chickens (1 yr) out today with the little ones (6 weeks) because it was so nice out. I had the medicated chick feed in the garage in case the little ones wanted it (they are housed seperatly for now till the little ones can eat pellets). When I went out later I found the older birds...

    BLRW Hen or Roo???

he/she seems to already be a bit aggressive. Which also makes me think roo. He will try to peck me, but is fine once I pick it up. If it turns out to be aggressive as an adult he'll have to go. However, I think he will be good looking. Time will tell!

    BLRW Hen or Roo???

He/she is about 6 weeks I think? I picked out of 3 when they were about 3 weeks? and this one had the lightest colored comb area but now it's looking awfully red, I'm thinking it might be a roo.

Anyone bringing silver laced wyandottes and/or araucanas to the walpole swap?

    One left, now what?

I'm sure it will be back. I'm working on getting the electic fence set up around the coop. It is all electric fencing out there, but it's high enough that I'm sure he/she just ducked under it. I'm going to have to lock the one chick left in the fence around the coop (it's actually a 12x12...

    One left, now what?

So, yesterday I lost 4 out of 5 chickens. I don't know what got them but I'm thinking a fox or coyote (feathers everywhere, no bodies). The one that is left seems to be depressed. I'm going to order more chicks but they won't come till mid July at the local feed store. Should I try to find...
