    OK, I went down last night, washed her off and saw no new blood. Her vent didnt look bloody, not too sure what it should look like normally but it was pinkish white color. Not protruding. She looks good. Heres hoping it was a freak thing. Thanks everyone for the help! I appreciate it!

    OK, Thanks. I have seen a bit of blood on a few eggs before but not like this and I have never seen it in vent feathers before. Makes me nervous.

    Just went to collect eggs and I have a Golden Commet that has bloody vent feathers and I have a bloody egg. What is it? What should I do? She is active and comb is a good color. The egg wasn't broken till my kids "helped" me. LOL Thank you so much for any help!

    Something got in but luckily didnt kill anything....yet

    The run is double wrapped with chicken wire and there is a barrier off the 3/8" plywood we just set into the ground. Hardware cloth is coming soon as is a solid roof before next winter. Its a work in progress. :) Thanks everyone.

    If my girls were in the coop, why did it bother breaking into the run with no food or anything there? Just because it wanted to?

    This is either claw marks or teeth marks, I dont know. There was a pretty good sized hole under the door as well. Thankfully, the girls were put away for the night. Otherwise this may have been a different post. We added 3/8" plywood 18" down into the ground today. I hope this helps...

    1 Girl FINALLY has her big girl voice!

    My girls will be a year next month. Today, while cleaning the coop, there was quite a racket! I finally have a RIR that was actually bok bok bogok! Yay! All the rest still honk like a goose but this one was bok-ing away! LOL Yay!

    I have a 5 gallon metal one that freezes everyday and a small plastic chick waterer inside the coop the usually freezes as well. I lug the small plastic one back up to the house and put it inside the tub. I run hot water on it for a few minutes till it thaws then open it and get all the ice...

    One of our chickens doesn't cluck - she screeches!

    I have a NHR that honks like a geese all.....day....long. Screeches, honks, weird sing songey noises...she never stops. :)
