I guess I didn't put much thought into it... I suppose I could section her off to incubate all the eggs or just a small handful for now and place the male with her if she needs him in order to stay on the eggs. Just hope that the other eggs are fertile from the larger hens. They're in a cat...
Okay I've stated that my male has 'issues' (hides, lazes about, sits on eggs, growls at me when grabbing for eggs)
Now I'm suspecting a hen or the male has taken to hoarding eggs in a corner to sit on. My male and a particular hen have taken to shoving all the eggs in one corner. I WISH I had...
With the weather picking up and not being all dramatic now... I'd like to start hatching some eggs.
I've got 1 male to 4 females. I'm not against sectioning him off with only 2 females, just felt keeping them all i n one cage would be fine.
I see ruffled feathers here and there but I'm not...

I had that issue the first week I got my quail. I suspect that it's because they were stressed.
THEN I upped the amount of oyster shell I mixed in their food. Haven't had an issue since. I add some to their sand box, their food, and a wee bit on the side.
I try to avoid leaving it on its' own...
They are easily amused. If you go right up to the cage they'll crane their necks and stare at you and chirp. (or run their beaks across the cage). If you REACH for them, then they panic and it's every bird for themself.
LOL! Well I'll cut a few branches and toss them in. They have a dust box and are content with that but when I come out they run towards the front of the cage cooing and running their beaks across it... I'll watch from the window and they're still doing it an hour or so later!!! Eventually they...
I am using 16 inches for my cages. My feeder and waterer are a bit tall so I wanted clearance for it. One bird insists on flying but has not killed themself yet. No injuries either.
my cage is 16 inches high 2 ft deep and 3 ft long. And holds 5 of my quail. i almost think it is too big for them...
Are my birds mental or bored? Just got 5 texas am (6-8 wks old) and 3 of the females are continually running their beaks across the cage. they have not hurt themselves but it is just a bit weird.... (or maybe not? these are my first birds).
Any suggestions or jokes? lol
Yeah I'm worried about the internal since that's something I can't do anything about. If something like that happens I'll just cull it :(
This may be my first time hatching but it's not the first time with a baby bird.
This one has all the spirit of an active chick... it just poops out faster...
The sandals
How it usually sleeps
After laying him down it kinda just flops about and then rests like this
It is stretching in this pic, but imagine it on its belly... it'll sleep like this or on its' back like this.
He'll peck at food from time to time but I have to give it...
Chick has curled toes and hobbles about but falls over quite often. occasionaly it takes to extending its legs behind itself. I thought it was spraddle at first but it hobbles well with my mini sandals.
2 days old. Had to help it hatch it took 27 hours to get as far as it did... which was not...
