Need Help to Identify a Possible Infection or Injury

No, the rats can’t get to her. No heat, both legs feel the same. It could possibly be a puncture wound because the blood gushes out through a hole which is the reason why I thought maybe a plucked feather.

Need Help to Identify a Possible Infection or Injury

No, no other predators. I will do that; clean with Saline and Neosporin twice a day. 👍🏻 She possibly could be picking at it, that is why it won’t heal. Thanks for responding!!!

Need Help to Identify a Possible Infection or Injury

Hi, Thanks for responding! I don’t keep my hens with the Rooster but sometimes that guy will run in when I open the hen door and quickly does his thing before I can grab him! That thought did cross my mind. She is about in the middle of the pecking order. We are having a rat issue but not...

Need Help to Identify a Possible Infection or Injury

Hi all, A week ago I noticed that my 2 yr old mixed Silkie/Calif Leghorn hen was limping. I soaked her in a warm epsom bath and that’s when I noticed bleeding on her feathers and skin above her top right leg. I dried her off, put Neosporin on the sore and have kept her secluded in a crate for...

Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

Remove. I had a broody hen hatch another hen’s eggs in a nest box, in a coop, with the rest of my flock. This was the first time raising chickens and I wasn’t experienced and unaware. Eight chicks were hatched, two were attacked after being hatched. I was able to save seven of the chicks but one...

Remove. I had a broody hen hatch another hen’s eggs in a nest box, in a coop, with the rest of my flock. This was the first time raising chickens and I wasn’t experienced and unaware. I assumed that the chicks would be fine after hatching. Eight chicks were hatched, two were attacked after being...

    Multiple Sick Hens, Green/Yellow Poop

Oooh noooo……yeah, I would do the corid treatment like you did last time, it’s been awhile since the last time so you must’ve done something right in treatment. I have read to check the crop for first thing in the morning. I am new to the chicken raising so I hope you get more experience replies...

    Multiple Sick Hens, Green/Yellow Poop

After my three past (2 hyline brown, 1 Calif Leghorn), I did corid drench on the 3rd hyline that appeared sickly. I also put corid in the water for 5 days just in case for the rest of the flock. All are doing well. It appears that we were going through this thing at the same time. I don’t...

    Multiple Sick Hens, Green/Yellow Poop

I am cautiously optimistic also. My fingers crossed for your chickie. I started the corid in the water yesterday for the rest of my flock. All seem to be doing well, eating, normal poop, drinking. I just don’t have a clue to what happened to the other three. Two were my oldest at 2 yrs old, and...

    Multiple Sick Hens, Green/Yellow Poop

Thank you. The last sick hen passed this afternoon. She showed no symptoms as the other two had. Her symptom showed early this morning then she was gone this afternoon. Now I am worried about the rest of the flock.
