Haha sounds like the poster child for LGBTQs.
I haven't actually observed my hen in the act as they all shut up and come running when they hear the door open. Maybe it won't progress anymore then though, from what you said
My BO/Ameraucana mix is very sweet and lays pretty khaki eggs (see below)
She's the one on the right
This is her sister, a BO/Jersey Giant. I love her colors and markings but she goes broody like once a month :/
She's a welsummer, about 3.5 years old if that matters. She's always been SUPER noisy, every morning egg or not she'll do the bwuck bwuck bwuck BWACK call and get all the other hens (4 total) to join in with her, it will last 10+ minutes sometimes . But her call changed recently, now she builds...
Haha well I don't know yet how she's getting out!
She actually isn't good about coming when called when she's out and about. Usually I'll be whistling and such walking around and I'll hear a distant "bwuuuuacccckkkk" and I'll have to follow the sound. Even then, last time when she saw me she was...
Yeah on second thought I see cats in our yard all the time and they never do more than watch them. So far she hasn't been crossing the street, she likes to go into the backyard of our neighbor with feral cats...
I was thinking that she may not even be using her wings, she could be hopping from...
I'm pretty sure... got all the long flight feathers, might have missed a couple of the shorter ones but are those that important?
I mean, I don't think she's ever been attacked. And admittedly I see cats watching the chickens in the backyard all the time and they've never done anything. But I...
We have an escape artist of a chicken. In the past after her molt she would discover her wings were no longer clip and resume her daily flight over our 7 foot or so fence to roam the feral-cat filled neighborhood
She recently finished molting and once again discovered she could fly over the...
I'm not sure I fully understand you...I've never own mixed breed chickens before (unless sex links count) but my chickens have never had a significant variation in their egg color. So I'd assume the same would go for mixed breed chickens too.
But I don't know what color her mom's (Ameraucanna)...
Just wanted to post a picture of my BO/Ameraucana's first egg in case anyone was interested in this mix. The picture doesn't really do it justice, but it came out a nice khaki color. She's laid 2 more eggs since and they were about the same size and color, so they're not the largest eggs...
