I love my Appleyard. She doesn't lay as consistently but she goes broody every year. She is sitting on a nest right now that is due to hatch on Friday. The dad is a Pekin. I recommend them but they are a lot harder to find.
We eventually had to separate ours. The pekin was just too big and our little Khaki Campbell was getting hurt. Cayugas and Anconas are a bit bigger than Khaki Campbells, too and Anconas are fantastic layers.
Ducks are more sensitive to heat than they are to cold. They're pretty hardy little...
Our Khaki Campbell laid 347 eggs in 360 days. She was incredible. I don't really recommend a female Khaki Campbell with a male Pekin, though. There's a big size difference there.

All religion aside, a relationship just doesn't work if one person randomly decides to change everything about who the are. If you are unwilling to accept this new life, it seems to me that an ultimatum is in order. He is young. People change, I get that but when you are in a relationship you...
Mine always stacks them, moves them, rearranges them, stacks them again.. You name it. She seems to know what she's doing, though. She has a decent hatch rate. We used to be super concerned about every little detail but it was stressful and since we decided to let nature do it's thing and not...
My rooster would never let our drake go near his girls. He does his job. ...a little too well. If there was a problem with ours at all, it was the rooster harassing the ducks. Only every now and then, just to show them who's boss.
My experience has been that males will be males, even when...
